Great little lake. More of a giant pond really🤣 it's a hidden gem, beautiful views, limited camping spots unfortunately, but great if you wanna get away from the crowds, decent fishing. Highly recommend
About 1 hour and 45 minutes from Shaver Lake, this was a remote and scenic campground. We had a beautiful campsite surrounded by golden Aspen’s with a great stone fire ring and a picnic table.
WORST PLACE TO STOP on Kaiser pass. Had a snake den in our campsite and scorpions in our shoes. Bees CONSTANTLY in our food and basically almost got carried away by mosquitos.. AVOID AT ALL COSTS Not kid friendly and barely adult friendly EVEN if everywhere else is packed. Shaver or Huntington are way worth the drive back down if everywhere else is full. Or try jackass meadows.
Love this place. Home away from home. Made this trip a birthday tradition 4 years running. This will be year 5.
Ward Lake is a typical High Sierra lake that is absolutely beautiful. I have only camped here once, and that was only because the Kaiser Pass Road was closed going down into Jackass Meadows. Our stay in the campground was okay, but I really did not like that the camp sites were so close to the road.
Just horrible! Meat bees everywhere, bears nightly visits have traumatized the children, and rattlesnakes. What a cesspool.
