Warner Campground is located within the Manti-La Sal National Forest at Forest Rd 0063, Moab, UT 84532, USA. While it’s near Moab, reaching this elevated paradise requires a scenic drive up into the La Sal Mountains. The journey itself is part of the experience, often described as beautiful yet potentially daunting due to winding mountain roads. From Moab, the general route involves taking US 191 south for about 6.8 miles to the La Sal Mountain Loop Road sign, then turning left and following signs towards Warner Lake for approximately 22 miles. It's important to note that access to the campground can be affected by road conditions, especially depending on the season, as it sits at an elevation of around 9,400 feet. The roads leading up, particularly the final few miles, can be gravel and washboarded, making higher clearance or 4WD vehicles recommended, although 2WD vehicles can often manage it with care.
Visitors should be aware of potential road construction in the area, particularly during the active season (mid-May to early October), which might necessitate detours or affect travel times. It's always advisable for locals to check current road conditions and any construction advisories from the Manti-La Sal National Forest before heading out. Despite the uphill climb, the accessibility of Warner Campground from Moab makes it a prime location for those looking to combine desert adventures with a refreshing mountain retreat. The approximately 30-mile drive from Moab takes about an hour due to the mountainous and winding roads, emphasizing the elevated and secluded nature of this campground.

The drive up beautiful and daunting. But once you get here, it’s heaven on earth! I don’t know what could beat the experience we had here on top of the world 🌎
Have been visiting for last 40 years. Great stop after trips to Canyonlands or Arches NP. Place to cool off and rest after day in the heat. Beware of some ongoing road construction in the area.
Hands down best camping spot if you are visiting Moab. We came to see Arches and tried to camp closer to town on the Colorado river but it was load and very hot. Warner Campground is an Oasis! It’s 30° cooler, surrounded by aspen trees, clean toilets, and beautiful scenery with a lake! We loved the cows roaming around our kids would moo back to them. You will not be disappointed at Warner.
About a 45 minute trip out of Moab, up a one lane winding road that turns to dirt. Great way to beat the heat of the valley. At around 9200 feet elevation, you will have cool evenings and amazing scenery. Camp sites are spaced apart enough that you won't be bothered by neighboring campers. Sites are $20 per night. There are hiking and mountain biking trails that start right out of the camp site.
Cool days, ice cold nights. Lots of wildlife, the lake is freezing cold. The aspen canopy is thick but the campsite is very well maintained. The 5 mile dirt road into camp is steep and winding, but accessible to any vehicle. Vault toilets are as clean as you'll find. This site is 1 hour outside of Moab.
