Customer Reviews
This is a lovely traditional unserviced campground next to the Little Red Deer River. There is a water pump with non potable water, a small playground, and firewood was available for purchase. It was delivered to each site and was a generous amount for $10. Each site had a picnic table and fire pit with a swing away grill. Outhouses and garbage cans are available in the campground. The website describes a cell signal booster. We were not able to connect so if you need to work from the site, this is not an option. The Lions club manages the campground and bookings are made online. The sites are different sizes and some specifically say suitable for tents or small units. Other spots listed the size but won't let you book until you enter the size of your rv. It was a challenge to find a site for the dates we needed that was an appropriate size without some trial and error but we were glad we persisted. We had a wonderful stay. It is very dark in the valley at night and the stars were spectacular.
The area is very pretty with the river. We booked 3 spots next to each other as we went with two other couples with kids and it was the perfect spot for us. Not sure if we would have liked it otherwise, as the spots were really close to each other. We really struggled to anchor our tent as the ground was super hard and full of rocks but we managed to make it work by moving the tent around. Overall we had a lovely time and would probably come back!
The kindness and heart in this place will never be matched. In the entire time we were there, not once did we come across a person who had a bad word to say. We were showing nothing but kindness in an extremely bad situation. We are having to camp for survival not for enjoyment. Everyone from the Lion's opened their hearts! They gave us a beautiful place to stay. And gave us a break that we desperately needed. As much as there is no power, it's better that way. You hear the wildlife around you and you see the stars at night. You are in one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. Thank you to Cindy for understanding our situation. And given mama and her two boys a break. Our stay was made better by you. Unfortunately, we would have stayed longer if it weren't for the fact that my tent collapsed. My physically and mostly had had enough that day. I cannot recommend this place more. It is a beautiful spot to rest and relax and enjoy. An awesome place by a little river surrounded by people who really care.
It's independently managed, and not as cool as most sites I have been to camp. You can still enjoy it for your river activities if you are into that. This place is good if you have a camper or motorhome. It's got North and South areas. I stayed in the South just by the river, but the part I got, the river was still, and more of a creek. It had little or no flow.
Beautiful, clean, peaceful… and the staff super friendly… great for tubing… and swimming for kids… no cell phone signal, only in few spots…
