Amazing little campground in the heart of the ice field parkway! Paddle board accessible with some beautiful views of the local mountain range. This is definitely a must see and one you should add to your list/stops on your way along the parkway. Come early tho if you want to find a camping spot as it fills up very quickly!
You will have no Communications with the people you are camping with if you're arriving at different times. Bring a sign or something to indicate your campsite, and plan that part ahead. In terms of campsites, there are few better. Totally full Labor Day 2024.
Great place to stay for first come first served camping. We arrived at 2pm on a Thursday and had no trouble finding a spot. If you can arrive earlier that would be even better. Firewood supply is minimal and there wasn't any available night one even though we paid for it. It was OK as we felt lucky to not be there during a burn ban. It's a great launching pad for park activities and the lake is very pretty!
Nice first come first serve campground with no hookups by the lake. Heavily wooded, no cellphone reception and Starlink won't work. I couldn't stay.
Favorite campground! 2 shorter lake hikes right from campground (Chephren Lake and Cirque Lake), 3 if you include the second waterfowl lake. If you hike the creek across the road you can get all the way up to the alpine as well (rough trek, a bit of bush whacking). Great lake to explore on a kayak or paddle board. Very cold for swimming though!
