Waterway Campground Introduce

For North Carolinians seeking a convenient and amenity-rich RV camping experience with direct access to the scenic Intracoastal Waterway, Waterway Campground in Cedar Point presents itself as a long-standing option. This resort has been a destination for many families and individuals for years, offering a strategic base for exploring the famed Crystal Coast. With its promise of a pool, laundry facilities, and most notably, boat access, it aims to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay for those who love coastal living and water activities. We understand that finding the right camping spot in our diverse state is key to a perfect getaway, and for those prioritizing waterfront convenience and resort-style amenities, Waterway Campground has historically been a popular choice for local adventurers.

Waterway Campground is designed to cater primarily to RV enthusiasts, with a focus on providing full hookup sites that make long-term or seasonal stays particularly appealing. The allure of being directly on the Intracoastal Waterway is undeniable, offering opportunities for boating, fishing, and simply enjoying the serene views. Its proximity to Emerald Isle beaches and other local attractions means that there's always something to do, whether it's a day at the beach, visiting local museums, or enjoying the vibrant community of Cedar Point. While some recent reviews raise significant concerns that prospective visitors should seriously consider regarding safety and atmosphere, the park has also received praise for its helpful office staff and clean bathhouses. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive and factual overview, allowing you to make an informed decision about whether Waterway Campground aligns with your specific camping preferences and safety expectations for your next North Carolina coastal adventure.

Waterway Campground is conveniently located at 850 Cedar Point Blvd, Cedar Point, NC 28584, USA. This address places it directly on the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), which runs parallel to the North Carolina coastline. For many residents across North Carolina, reaching Cedar Point is a straightforward journey, often involving routes via US-17 or NC-24. Cedar Point itself is a charming community, and the campground's location provides excellent access to local shops, restaurants, and essential services.

The accessibility of Waterway Campground is generally considered very good for RVs of all sizes, with paved roads leading into and within the resort. Being situated on the ICW is a significant advantage, offering easy boat access and opportunities for various water activities directly from the park. It's also just a short drive to the popular Emerald Isle beaches and other Crystal Coast attractions, including fishing piers, the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, and various historical museums. The park is open year-round (350 days a year), making it a flexible option for both short-term stays and those looking for seasonal or annual sites. While the location provides incredible convenience for water lovers and those wanting to explore the wider Crystal Coast, potential visitors should be aware that the proximity to a developed area means the atmosphere might be more akin to a resort community than a secluded wilderness campground.

Waterway Campground offers North Carolina locals a potentially convenient and amenity-rich option for RV camping with exceptional access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Crystal Coast. For those who prioritize a waterfront location, the ability to bring a boat, and resort-style amenities like a pool and laundry, it has traditionally provided a comfortable base for coastal adventures. Its year-round operation and full hookup sites make it particularly suitable for RVers seeking flexible or long-term stays in the area.

However, it is critically important for local prospective visitors to be fully aware of recent serious concerns raised by former guests regarding public safety, including reported instances of drug use, overdoses, and theft, particularly concerning animals. While the park's management has historically been described as helpful and facilities as clean, these recent allegations warrant careful consideration. For North Carolinians, weighing the allure of the prime waterfront location and amenities against these significant safety concerns is essential. If these issues are addressed and resolved, Waterway Campground could continue to be a fantastic gateway to the Crystal Coast's fishing, boating, and beach activities. However, it is strongly advised that potential visitors conduct their own due diligence, perhaps by contacting the management directly about these specific concerns, to ensure the environment aligns with their expectations for a safe and enjoyable camping experience.

DO NOT VISIT!!!!! multiple instances of hard drug use and overdose within permanent residents. A resident overdosed this past Sunday and management has done nothing to resolve the problem. Also a problem with theft, if you have animals, keep them close they may be stolen and sold!!!

This is a great place to stay. We have been coming since 2005. The office is very helpful. The bathhouses are clean. There is a pool and laundry room. As an added bonus. The resort sits on the Intercostal Waterway and has boat access. Come and enjoy the Crystal Coast.

A surprising little oasis on the inlet. Satellite view from above seems like it’s going to be a trailer park with a bunch of annual spots. People had nice trailers, clean and in nice condition. Our expectation was low having never been there. Nice friendly staff, campers and annual people were friendly. Decent pool. Clean laundry facility. A little loud on weekends but super quiet during the week. Close to water.
