This campground is located outside of Yosemite Valley, requiring a 45-minute drive to reach the main attractions. However, the trade-off is a more tranquil setting with campsites situated alongside the river and a less crowded atmosphere compared to the larger campgrounds within the valley. While the individual sites aren't exceptionally spacious, private, or unique, I enjoyed the quieter ambiance. A convenience store is located within 1-1.5 miles, and Mariposa Grove is approximately 6-7 miles away.
This is a beautiful campground, first come, first serve. We camped right by the river and had a wonderful campfire. The bathrooms are very clean and heated.
The camp ground has great condition of restrooms. Clean and neat. The surrounding area is pretty filled with a natural vibe. Recommend to have this camp ground reserved to do several good hikes in Yosemite National Park. 👍👍👍
Stayed in the C-Loop which is farthest away from the road and closest to the river fork. As several others said, the river is almost always cold. The outside temperature was 90F and the river still felt pretty cold. May be it is more suitable for trying try right after a sweaty hike.
This is a beautiful campground with some sites right by the river. We stayed at site 34 and 79. Site 34 was right by the river and we could hear the river flow almost the entire time. It's a quiet and peaceful place. The restrooms were clean and the neighbors were respectful. Overall very good experience camping at site 34. The parking area for the site is inclined so it's not suitable for car camping. Each site comes with a bear locker which is very well maintained and clean. Site 79 is in loop C and the sites are very close to each other. Luckily we didn't have anyone on site 78 and so we had no issues with privacy. The restroom in loop C had a dish washing sink too. Though we didn't have direct access to the river, but still we could see and hear it. We will definitely return back to this campground when visiting Yosemite.
