West haven RV Park, though a long term rv site, welcomed us with open arms when we got stranded with our rv over the July 4th holiday. Their scenic location is close to Lake Erie with its beaches and world class fishing. Manager Amber delivered exceptional service and the community welcomed us warmly. Thank you West Haven, you truly were a haven when we needed it the most.
West Haven is a very nice RV park. The grounds are well maintained. The showers and restrooms are clean. It's quieter than most campgrounds because most of the campers are seasonal. There are a few monthly sites and some tent sites for overnighters.
Site was nice, but the staff were great. Park was kept tidy, and Amber was always quick to resolve issues. It's about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown Erie or Presque Isle. Also glad for the fire ring at the site! Definitely recommend.
Amber at the front desk is excellent, always willing to help and provide great service as well as friendly chit chat. Full size pool with a 9ft deep end. Mostly permanent dwellings that families return to for generations. Gravel parking pads and concrete/gravel roads throughout the park. Beautiful farmland nearby. Spectrum cell service almost non-existent and park Wi-Fi is not good. Laundry services only take quarters and leave much to be desired. Erie, Pennsylvania is a great area for a short visit but is mostly loved for its proximity to large cities such as Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Niagara Falls.
Had a hard time rating this campground... Easy to make the reservation and camp manager Amanda greeted us as we pulled in. She escorted us to a great little gravel pad with a stone paver patio next to a catch and release fishing pond. Grounds were manicured and very neat with a huge swimming pool and nice playground. The surroundings for short-term stays were very nice. However my morning walk with our dog revealed a less neat area for the "perma-campers". Narrow roads, several sites were a bit rough but most folks took pride in their home sites by personalizing them with flowers, gardens and even rock art. The toilet area was small but clean - 2 stalls. The showers were unisex with single doors to access each from the exterior of the bathhouse - 4 total. This area was rougher - not as clean, 2 hooks on the wall, no bench or seat. Shower stalls were nicely sized and a 5- minute timer starts the water. I panicked a little when I noticed there weren't any temperature controls and the water temp stayed quite brisk for a while. In the end it warmed up perfectly and I was still able to make it through my shower routine in the nick of time. Although it wouldn't have been a big deal to add 5 more minutes!
