  • "One of our favorite places to fish. Fun place to ride the side by side. Wish the reservoir would stay full like it used to back in the day. Now it’s always really low."
  • "West Magic Resort is plenty fun if you’re outdoorsy people. But it’s very isolated and a pretty lonely place to grow up. There’s plenty of places to play if you have a good imagination or if you have friends. Otherwise- better bring a good book to read."

Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or an extended stay, West Magic Resort promises a memorable experience. Embrace the solitude, enjoy the outdoor activities, and create lasting memories in this unique destination.

I did not vacation here, but I lived out here for 10 years. A lot of people seem to have some of the information wrong about the place, although there isn’t much to find online in the first place. I don’t know of any hotel or motel that is still operating out there, but there is an RV park and camping along the shore and at Lava Point or Myrtle Point for free. The people are plenty friendly as long as you are friendly to them. To my knowledge, the pub and grill isn’t open anymore. We used to be able to go to the little store in there to get basic cooking ingredients like milk and eggs, but I haven’t been a customer there in almost another deacade, so I’m not sure that’s still open either- probably not. West Magic Resort is plently fun if you’re outdoorsy people. But it’s very isolated and a pretty lonely place to grow up. There’s plently of places to play if you have a good imagination or if you have friends. Otherwise- better bring a good book to read. And seriously watch out for those bumps and corners, especially in the winter or muddy season.

My husband called and asked about camping around Magic Reservoir. The guy was nice and said that they had a store, bar, and restaurant there at the resort. There are RV sites open for $35/night with water, power, and sewer. He also said there was plenty of camping spots on the west shore (at no cost). We decided to camp at Lava Point after talking to a nice resident that lives nearby. The road there is pretty rough and rutty, but we made it fine. On the main road going into Magic Reservoir, when it says bump, slow down!! Not many people there at the end of April and it was super windy, but still fun...fishing, riding, and camping!

$120 for a weekend in a dirt parking lot full of goatheads. No water access (not their fault). No public restroom. No place for kids to play. Restaurants not open. Lodge not open.

I'm sure this place is absolutely amazing if there is water. As its beautiful! However we did not have enough water to float kayaks at the resort...
