Customer Reviews
The Western is a small town rural motel reminiscent of the those that once stood along Route 66 and similar routes before the advent of interstate highways. Catering largely to weary travelers passing through the area and weekly business guests, the Western is a welcome respite from the road. The rooms are clean and some offer kitchenettes. The property has a small RV park with bathroom / shower facilities along with per site water, sewer, and electric hook ups. There is also a coin laundry on site. The entire staff is friendly and efficient - always willing to provide directions, make a local recommendation, or answer any questions you might have. Rates are seasonal and comparative to other properties in the area. The Western also offers discounts on longer-term stays and it’s not unusual to meet a local that calls the Western home. If you stop in, be sure to say “hi” to Holly - she runs the place and is always friendly and kind.
I don't like to leave bad reviews and usually don't, but the room we stayed in had bed bugs and I now have an infestation in my apartment. We called the hotel 10 days after our check-out date to notify them of the situation and ask for reimbursement, but they said that it was too late to let them know and that there was nothing they could do. Bed bug removal is a MASSIVE pain and quite expensive, so I thought it would be only fair to offer a refund and am shocked that they were unwilling. I found a bed bug in my hotel bed in the morning when I woke up (room #20) and took a picture of it in case it became an issue. We would have notified the hotel that morning, but we left for a hike at 5am and the office was not open then. I checked all of my bags as thoroughly as possible and didn't find anything, so I hoped it wouldn't become an issue (but clearly I missed some and now I have a horrible problem). It took about a week before I realized there was a problem and since then, I have woken up each day with more and more bites. I have also spent hours cleaning and vacuuming and washing and spraying everything I own and have now spent a lot of money on products to try to get rid of them. Also, the walls of our room were paper thin. We probably would have struggled to sleep had we not had ear plugs with us. We heard the people next door banging and clanking things all night, but also heard conversation and zippers and things that you wouldn't normally expect to hear though a standard wall... Otherwise, the hotel looked fairly nice. The bathrooms were decently sized and the room had a microwave and minifridge. The hotel was also willing to take our late and last-minute booking, which I do appreciate. However, all of this is far overshadowed by our negative experiences, namely the bed bugs.
Really pleasantly surprised by this motel. I was worried after reading the reviews. But our room was very spacious and clean. The linens and towels were all very clean as well. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. We brought our dinner, which we were able to put in the refrigerator and heat up in the microwave. This room gave us everything we needed in advance of an early-morning start on a hike the next day. I would stay here again.
The manager was amazing. She was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back and will definitely recommend you to everyone I know
We stayed here this past weekend. We got a king room. Very spacious and comfortable. We didn’t spend too much time in the room except to sleep. If you have issues getting the tv or WiFi to work don’t hesitate to call the front desk. I forgot to take photos. Our only small issues was there was no ac and it wasn’t advertised that they had it or didn’t have it. We would’ve stayed either way most likely. They allowed you to check in 3 hours early which was a big help because we didn’t get back to hotel till after the office closes. We’d stay again and we’d recommend staying as well.
