A big shout-out to Marble Falls for making this leash-free park (Ruff Park is a park within Westside Park) available. We arrived about 8:30 AM from San Antonio and had the whole place to ourselves. I had a mask at the ready in case there were other humans around--few spread out in other areas of Westside Park. After hanging in Ruff Park for a bit, we went on a leashed walk a long one of the built trails before departing about 10 AM. Marble Falls is a nice little getaway from the "big" city, especially during non-pandemic times. A couple of nice restaurant and great views of the body of water there.
If you have pets, kids, or skin AVOID this place! There are infinite ant piles and sticker bushes! In less than 5 min, I was swarmed by ants biting through my socks, and my dog had 8 stickers in her paws. I expected a public park & dog park to be maintained for use by humans & pets; however, that is not the case at Westside Park. Upon looking further, I found the grounds to be a minefield of ant piles and sticker bushes. Unless you stay on the gravel or pavement you are going to injure your pets! WILL NOT RETURN!
Great park with a small playground for toddlers and a large playground for older kids. There’s also a beautiful walking path that connects to Johnson city park
I came here for the dog park. It was great to find one in the area and I loved that my dog was able to play with another dog while we were there. I haven't viewed the other sections like the disc golf area or walking trail so we'll have to check it out next time.
No one cleans up after their dogs. In the dog area and outside. It reeks then of dog mess.
It's been approximately 2 yrs since I last visited this park with my dog. It is poorly taken care of. There are dog poop bigger than my 20lb dog as well as ants and pests that are probably able to carry her away with little effort. Needless to say, I won't be going back there for another few years.
