Westwood Lake Campground Resort

The campground is very close to the city and the lake. A good location for first time campers or families, who don't want to go all off grid. The staff is very friendly and helpful (bonus points for the lended sleeping bags after we recognized we did not pack all :-/). Facilities were super clean. Downsides: - very narrow and small. You basically live with your neighbor - Booking system doesn't have a nice flow and enough options when you wanna book for multiple parties. I ended up booking via phone, which worked.

My husband and I spent 3 days and 3 nights at the Westwood Campground Resort in Nanaimo this December, and it was everything we could’ve hoped for. We hiked around the stunning Westwood Lake for two hours then spent our cozy evenings binge-watching our favorite show. Yes, there was Wi-Fi—so we got the best of both worlds: fresh air by day, Netflix by night. The owner was amazing—super friendly and full of great advice on the best places to explore in Nanaimo. Thanks to him, we got to see some real hidden gems we wouldn’t have found on our own. Between the incredible views, the cozy cabin, and the helpful tips, this trip was perfection. Highly recommend if you want a peaceful getaway that balances nature, adventure, and lazy evenings in equal measure.

Beautiful and cute campground! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The owner is really kind and gave us some great travel ideas on Vancouver island. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to visit again.

Second time staying at the campground. experience very similar both times...the owners are extremely compassionate people. If you have a family, you will be treated so kindly. The campground is immaculate as is the bathrooms and laundry area. We had 2 deer visiting our site this morning and an owl flew through yesterday...need I say more!! Oh yes, the lake is beautiful too. I will be back over and over again. Thank you for going above and beyond!

This was the first time we have camped at Westwood Lake Campground. We found the owners to be extremely kind and accommodating. As I was checking in, the lady who complained a few days ago about being treated rudely was in fact the one who was very demeaning and irate. She was yelling that the row boat was broken and the oars kept hitting her knees. The owner was listening very patiently and respectfully. I was in the office and then came back again to get a map and she was still yelling at him. Of course she wrote a review saying the complete opposite. She was very unstable and demeaning and wouldn’t take any responsibility for the situation at all.
