Walking on snowy trails during the winter season was quite challenging, but the effort was worth it when I encountered the breathtaking sight of flowing waterfalls. The icy surroundings contrasted beautifully with the rushing water, creating an iconic and serene scene.🤩
Whirlpool State Park is an incredible and serene spot to visit My husband and I were in awe of the stunning natural surroundings. From the Whirlpool Trail, you get an unbelievable view of the powerful rapids words truly can’t capture the beauty of it. It’s mesmerizing! The trail down to the river is equally amazing. Yes, there are many steps to descend, but it’s completely worth it. Once you reach the bottom, you can walk along both sides of the river. We only explored one side, which connects to Devil’s Hole, but part of the trail was closed due to rockfall, so definitely heed the caution signs. We spent some peaceful time just listening to the water and absorbing the beauty of nature. If you visit in the fall, you’ll be surrounded by gorgeous autumn colors, which makes the experience even more special. Highly recommend this park to anyone who enjoys nature and scenic beauty!
Hiked down the gorge to get close to the rapids for beautiful scenery. We watched the jet boat tours come up as far as the whirlpool and the aerocar above go across from Canada to the USA side and back. There are several stairs, rocky paths, and areas where the trail gets very narrow and you must pay attention because it drops off. Wouldn't recommend taking small children. Great views!
Great views of the Falls, rapids and gorge. Take the stairs down to the riverside gorge trail. It usually goes between Whirlpool and Devil's Hole State Parks. Currently blocked by a recent rockslide. The trail is also accessible from the stairs down to the river in Devil's Hole State Park. Trail connecting the two parks along the rim of the gorge as well. Cat distribution system occasionally working in the parks as evidenced in the first photo.
We visited the first week of April 2024. The park's building they have here was shut down for renovations, but you could still get to the Whirlpool Basin viewing areas and walkways. It's a GREAT view. Plenty of parking. We walked up and down along the walkway, plenty of great views.
