Whiskers Campground Introduce
Welcome to Whiskers Campground, located near the scenic Bass Lake in California. As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Whiskers Campground offers a secluded natural setting, accessible via a roughly 9-mile road.
Whiskers Campground is known for its natural beauty and proximity to water activities. It provides access to nice swimming and fishing areas, and the campsites themselves are generally shaded and offer flat tent spots. Trails lead down to accessible water areas. However, recent reviews indicate that the experience can vary significantly depending on the time of visit.
Key features and potential considerations include:
- Secluded Location: Access via a 9-mile road, offering a sense of remoteness.
- Shaded Campsites: Sites offer good shade and flat tent areas.
- Access to Water: Nearby swimming and fishing holes.
- Potential Crowding: Recent reviews indicate the campground can get crowded, especially during peak times.
- Noise Levels: Reports of loud parties, uncontrolled dogs, and even gunfire have been noted.
- Bathroom Maintenance: One bathroom was reported to be closed for maintenance.
- Lack of Oversight: Reports suggest that rules and camping etiquette may not always be followed.
While the campground offers attractive natural features, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues with crowding and noise. Some reviewers have experienced a lack of peacefulness due to large groups and uncontrolled behavior. It is recommended to contact the campground directly at (559) 877-2218 or +1 559-877-2218 to inquire about current conditions and potential crowding before planning a visit.
If you are looking for a campground with access to water and shaded campsites, Whiskers Campground may be an option, but be prepared for potential noise and crowding, particularly during busy periods.

It's a relatively well maintained 9 mile road out to the campground. Nice water areas to swim nearby. One of the bathrooms was shut down for maintenance. Not crowded at all
We intended on camping at Whiskers for 2 nights, but decided to cut our trip short after one night. Here is a list of the pluses and minuses of Whiskers when we were there. Pluses: The campground is secluded and the sites are a good size. The sites are nicely shaded with flat spots for tents. There are trails leading down to a really nice fishing/swimming hole area. Minuses: The place was packed full of people. If you're looking to get away from hustle and bustle, Whiskers isn't the place to go. There were several large parties of families there - it was loud and crowded. We were in the back of the campground in site #5 and people very rudely walked back and forth through our site to get to the water, despite other access points. Very annoying when you're chilling by your fire and people are walking through your area. There were several dogs there and people were not controlling them. The dogs were barking loudly all day, non-stop. Super hard to relax with all the noise of constant barking. The worst part is that people were shooting guns in the evening. Yes, in the evening after the sun set - very irresponsible. I'm all for 2nd Amendment rights, but what they were doing was careless and dangerous. We weren't comfortable walking around with all the close gunfire. It continued for well over an hour and a half. With all of that said, I don't think I'll return to Whiskers. The place needs more oversight if people are not going to follow the posted rules and simple camping etiquette. They ruin it for others like me who are looking to get away for a relaxing, fun weekend.
