Whiskey on the River

If you’re looking for a a quiet restful retreat this was definitely it ! Is it way out in the middle of no where ? Yes but that’s exactly what we wanted ! We didn’t expect to have WiFi and it did go out some but honestly we didn’t need it ! The water was high so we didn’t get to enjoy the beach area but hope to come back to see it someday . It’s convenient to everything we wanted to do. I would definitely recommend a truck or svu as it’s a bumpy dirt road to the area . Signs showed us exactly were to go once we got to the road the gps took us to the main road. Kitchen and grill were perfect . The oven can be difficult but my husband figured it out after watching the video provided. Overall we enjoyed our trip and hope to be back !

Lovely cabin, very clean, modern and comfortable. The river beach is a 10 minute stroll from cabin 1. Other cabins are slightly further away as the cabin numbers go up. The kitchen was very modern and had all the utensils one would need for a comfortable long stay. The modern technology like AC, thermostat, have lights that do not turn off at night and make the bedroom too bright to sleep, luckily I had some painters tape and it hid 80% of the lights' brightness. My small car could park right close to the stairs so loading and unloading was quick. The river is slow flowing with shallow waters so safe for kids to wade around in. There were 5 quail, many chicken and 2 ducks wandering around the property in the evening when we arrived. Lots of thought and investment went into this property and I wish more places like this existed.

If you're looking for a quiet place to stay, this isn't it. There were guinea hens on the property, and they're very noisy, so noisy that it ruined our stay. It was like having a flock of geese outside honking non-stop. I'd run them off, and within 30 or 45 minutes, they'd be back honking. It was really a shame because the cabin and riverview were great. We left after one night, we were supposed to stay for two nights.

Pros: -Nice new paint and features -Coffee -Nice bath towels Cons: -A/C was limited to 69-72 degrees. Even at 69 we could not sleep comfortably. Way too hot. -Shower head was terrible, like a garden hose. -Internet goes out frequently -Fan did not work at all -Hard to find the correct cabin at night -No towel to wash dishes This property is obviously trying to make money even tho the services and amenities are terrible. I WONT BE BACK!!

This was a treasure to stay at for the Hattiesburg/Petal, MS area. My husband and I would definitely stay here again! The cabins are new and modern, while on solar power. Everything was very, very clean. The management on the property is kind and helpful if needed. The scenery is breathtaking. The only downside to this place is that it is located near a major highway, so there is a lot of road noise nearby, and not a completely quiet experience as you can hear interstate/highway traffic constantly. However, everything else is superb. Be prepared to bring your own food and drinks though as the nearest amenities are over 12 miles away.
