We stayed in the RV park. The owner and staff were very accommodating and friendly. We cut our stay short one day because Great Basin is pretty much closed in winter, other than Lehmans Cave tours. We only had to pay for 2 nights. We got invited to a fundraiser feed at the bar and they made sure we knew about the Mardi Gras parade in town. The Gumbo and Hawaiian chicken they served were fabulous. They are working on the place, so that is good. I knocked off one star because they need to get rid of much junk around the place. I shared my feelings about that with the owner and he agreed.

It's been a while since I've been about a year, here but, I genuinely think about how much of a dump this place was. Toilets were not cleaned at all, felt like a it hadn't been clean in half a decade. Guy runs a whole monopoly over the town and he shut down a competitor, which by the way had a far better maintained property and actually looked great unlike how it feels to stay in this place in a trailer. It's like living in a run down car dump while the owner are complete tweakers, I hope this place shuts down.

Staying at the Whispering Elms in Baker, NV was an unexpected delight! Visiting Great Basin National Park, one of the least-visited national parks, in the off season, we weren’t sure what to expect for pet-friendly accommodations, but we were so pleased with the location, cleanliness, and aesthetic at Whispering Elms. They have a campground with full hookups, and they have been working hard to renovate their 6 motel rooms (they were working on the ADA accessible unit when we stayed). They even have 2 Rivian Charging stations, a Bar on site, and a seasonal restaurant (not open during our stay). We’d definitely stay here again.

This place is so close to Great Basin NP that it is practically in the park. Whispering Elm is also close to the very small "downtown" in Baker, which includes a general store and restaurant. The managers were great - super nice, accommodating, responsive, and funny. The room was clean and had lots of towels, a microwave, and small fridge. It was exactly as expected for what it was - a room on a campground/RV park near an isolated national park. Do not expect glam, but it has everything you need. Bonus: there is a small bar on property and there was a great bartender pouring drinks.

Great stay at Whispering Elms in our RV. Easy in/out though spots are close together. Shared firepit and table with your RV neighbor - not a big deal for us as we are self contained and the heat meant no fire necessary nor much desire to sit and eat outside! This was our base for visiting Great Basin NP; we stayed for one night. Location can't be beat for accessability into the NP with full hook ups. Quick drive to the Lehman Cave Visitor Center (recommend the cave tour and scenic drive up to some great hikes as well as bristlecone pine and aspen areas). There are camping options in the park but "first come, first served" (lovely creek along the upper lehman cg with access to trail so worth checking out - spots were all filled on a Saturday), and it was HOT (end September w/temperatures in the 90s!), so electric hook up was appreciated! There's a bar connected to the campground/motel with a wide selection of good, canned beers. Manager and customers all really friendly. We spent an hour chatting with everyone in the evening before heading out again to take night sky photos. Lovely sunrise in the morning from our RV. Would certainly return to stay if we're in the area again.
