A group of us went horse riding there. The trails are well taken care of, and the scenery is beautiful. There is one hill that is challenging in that it is steep and rocky, but doable. Thus is my new favorite place to ride.
The newly improved horse campground at White Mound park is gelling nicely! Water and electric at every site; sturdy hitching posts; new portapotties centrally located in the middle of the 7 sites; and I had no problem getting 2 paddocks for my mares. There are currently 4 nice, spacious paddocks in the camground with one dedicated to Site #7, and 3 more available on a first come, first served basis at the west end of the campground. More paddocks might come in the future. (You can't string electric paddocks of your own any more due to the lay-out of the 7 sites.) Friends joined me for a day ride my first afternoon, and we all enjoyed the trails and gorgeous views. We had dinner over the campfire as evening fell - again, a wonderful experience in a beautiful park. My human friends departed, while I stayed with my 2 horse friends to enjoy a night under the stars. A friend came the next morning for a final ride under brightly colored aspen, maples, and oaks. This newly renovated horse campground is a lovely place to enjoy one's equines, and should get even better during it's 2nd season in 2025!
This small lake was a perfect beach day. Cute little sand area, water craft for rent. The water was clean, lovely new building with bathrooms and snacks. Lots of picnic tables.
Beautiful trails, even seen a deer running in the field, peaceful n quite
Went here for fall foliage viewing - didn't disappoint! Of course activity is in the summer but yeah, it is also a lovely and perfect example of a lake view with fall colors if ever you're in Sauk County! Pictures are from Oct 22, 2023
