One of the standout features of Whitehead Lake Campground is its artesian well, which offers fresh water for drinking and cooking. While most reviews highlight the positive aspects of Whitehead Lake Campground, there are a few areas where improvements could be made. Some visitors have noted issues with the condition of the vault toilets, particularly in the men's section, which was described as “truly nasty” during one visit. Additionally, campers should be prepared to bring their own toilet paper, as it is not provided on-site. The water supply is also limited, requiring campers to fetch water from a communal faucet and transport it back to their sites.
Despite these minor drawbacks, Whitehead Lake Campground remains a top choice for those seeking an authentic outdoor experience. Its remote location ensures a quiet and peaceful stay, far removed from the noise of urban life. The campsite’s affordability and unique amenities make it a favorite among nature lovers, history buffs, and families looking to bond over shared outdoor adventures.

Love this place!!! Off the beaten path. Great place to camp during the winter months. It's got a boat ramp down the way and bathrooms with toilet paper. Camping fee for a small fee of $3 a day. Has an artesian well for water. It's a little bit sulfury, but hey it's good for you, right?
Great campsite for someone looking to experience a semi off the grid experience. Vault style toilets provided. Would have gave five stars but the men's vault toilet wad covered I excrement. It was truly nasty. Also, make sure top being your on toilet paper. There is drinking water but you have to bring out back to your campsite from a low flow communal faucet. Best boil it or filter it if you plan on drinking the water; it definitely had a well water taste. That said, the view is wonderful. Loved walking through the woods with the wife and kids.
Been going to this campground for 35+ years. U.S. Forest service has the campground shut down. Hurricane Michael caused a good amount of damage last October. Most of it has been cleaned up. People that have used it for years have offered to help with the rest of the cleanup. This is our public lands. The government has absolutely no logical reason to barricade the perimeters with large cement barriers. We want our public lands to be accessible for the intended use. Campgrounds are for camping. We love our National & States Forest 💛
Small, wooded hunt camp. No facilities, pack it, pack it out.
Great for a peaceful weekend or family trip. Boat access and fishing also! Facilities are kept clean and there us water available. Camping areas are clean also.
