Whiterock is a really neat location and I'd recommend the visit. This review is mostly re: the campground. The campground is in very good shape and is cozy. Only small disadvantage is that the campground sits next to a fairly busy gravel road (at least busy when we were there). We really enjoyed the staff of Whiterock and took advantage of the canoe trips they make available. Strong recommend this trip. I think this campground is primarily targeted at folks with horse trailers (something i don't know much about).
The campground has been very nice. The issue is the worker’s house right next to the oakridge campground. They would talk loudly on their phone in the middle of the night as if there aren’t people trying to sleep. The worker’s also let their dog out and let it bark throughout the night. While the dog was out, the porch light was on illuminating my camper. I only have a pop up so the outside sounds were not blocked. It feels like the workers do not care about the campers while they are sleeping at night.
Perched on a knoll exposed to the wind under a big sky, is the recipe for a peaceful night's sleep.
Very nice campground within a truly diamond in the rough nature conservancy. There are several white oaks for shade throughout the campground. All gravel sites with electric and some have water nearby. None have full hookups but there is a dump station on site. Self registration for camping and any other activities you are doing at White Rock. Most of the sites are plenty big but some of them have a relatively small or non-existent area that is actually level. The only real drawback to this place is that you have to drive 2 miles of gravel to get to it. If you have a nice rig you're definitely going to dust it up getting down to the campground. Most people won't care about that but some will.
Oak Ridge Campground is one of three campgrounds at Whiterock Conservancy. RVs and tents are allowed to camp at this site. Electric hook up is available and the restrooms have running water and are very clean. Horse pens are available as well. The location has a great view from on top of a hill.
