Wickiup Campground Introduce
Wickiup Campground is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the National Forest, offering a unique camping experience just outside Pomeroy, WA. This charming campsite provides visitors with an opportunity to connect with nature while enjoying a variety of outdoor activities. Whether you're a solo adventurer, a family traveling together, or a group of friends seeking adventure, Wickiup Campground offers something for everyone.
The campground is located in a picturesque area surrounded by lush forests and breathtaking scenic views. It’s an ideal spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in nature's beauty. The campsite itself is free, making it a budget-friendly option for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Wickiup Campground provides basic but essential facilities for a comfortable camping experience. Campers can enjoy picnic tables, fire pits, and access to pit toilets. While the facilities are modest, they’re well-maintained, ensuring that visitors have everything they need for a memorable stay. The campsite is particularly popular among those who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and exploring the nearby forest trails.
One of the standout features of Wickiup Campground is its location near major Forest Service roads, making it a hub for off-road vehicle enthusiasts and backcountry explorers. However, this also means that the campsite can be quite busy, especially during peak seasons. Visitors should expect some noise from passing vehicles and forest traffic.
Despite its remote location, Wickiup Campground offers a surprising level of convenience. The campsite is regularly maintained by the Washington Forest Service, ensuring that it remains clean and welcoming for all visitors. Recent improvements include fresh paint on picnic tables, adding a touch of charm to this otherwise rustic setting.
Customer feedback highlights both the positive and challenging aspects of camping at Wickiup Campground. Many visitors praise its cleanliness and well-maintained facilities, noting that it’s a great option for those seeking an affordable and nature-immersed experience. However, some reviews mention issues with litter left by previous campers and occasional vandalism, such as damaged door latches on pit toilets. These challenges are not uncommon in remote National Forest campgrounds, but they’re worth keeping in mind when planning your visit.
Overall, Wickiup Campground strikes a balance between rustic charm and modern convenience. It’s an excellent choice for anyone looking to experience the great outdoors without breaking the bank. Whether you’re seeking peaceful nights under the stars or exciting day trips into the forest, this campsite offers a perfect base for your adventures.
So why not pack up your tent, grab your hiking boots, and head to Wickiup Campground? With its stunning views, friendly atmosphere, and affordable prices, it’s an experience you won’t want to miss. Don’t forget to leave no trace behind and help preserve this beautiful spot for future visitors!

Customer Reviews
As is the case at many National Forest campgrounds, visitors have mistreated this one. Garbage tossed around. Door latch shot off the pit toilet. Wickiup Spring spoiled by seasonal hunters leaving entrails and other discarded animal bits in the outflow. Lots of flies as a result. Lots of loud traffic 24 hours a day since it's at a major intersection of Forest Service roads. Otherwise, an ok free campground with picnic table, fire pit, and great views.
Super clean. No garbage laying around, bathrooms were clean, pretty area. Thanks washington forest service for taking good care of area. Fresh paint on tables
This campground has picnic tables at each site. No running water there but you can find a spring nearby to pack water in.
Beautiful Veiw
Nice view of the Blue Mountains to the southwest.
