It is a lovely secluded primitive campsite with all the advertised amenities (picnic tables, non-potable water, raised tent platforms, fire ring with grate). Very good view of the night sky for South Florida. The grass was fairly overgrown so we couldn't walk off the trails much. Ground was very dry as it hadn't rained in over a week and it was the middle of the dry season. Easily fit 4 tents at the site, 2 of which were on the raised platforms. Bugs were quite mild for a swampy South Florida location; citronella candles and the campfire did a good job of keeping them at bay. Saw some gators and spotted gar hanging at the culvert near the gate.

Campground was closed, chained over and no notification on their website. Had to cancel my reservation at the campground and book at Panther Pond. Probably shouldn’t reserve this campground in the summer, the area is prone to flooding around there. However Panther Pond is dry even in the wet season so you should be okay there. Okaloacoochee is a beautiful park and I would highly recommend a visit.

One of my favorite places. At the end of locked fence (code given upon booking). If you enjoy quiet seclusion and don’t mind primitive this is perfect☺️

I maven stayed here but despite being roped off, you can still walk to the site. Just be sure to make a reservation. Looks like a great site and the walk wasn't bad. This place definitely doesn't deserve the negative reviews.
