Can't say enough good things about Wild wonderful skoolies!!! Absolutely beautiful area, well thought out designs, and kind owners who have a unique way of being helpful without being intrusive.
Wow. Just wow. As vloggers, my husband and I are always looking for unique places to stay. Wild Wonderful Skoolies and Camping is definitely one of the most unique and awesome! We stayed in the Woodstock Hippie bus #82 for three nights in June. Amenities included a fridge, coffee pod machine, microwave, water/sink, dining table (on authentic bus seats!), a bedroom area with an amazingly comfortable bed and super-soft sheets, faux fireplace for ambience, and outside there is a picnic area with a firepit ring and (which has a grill you can swing over top of it to cook out). Firewood is for sale on site, and they'll bring it to you. Their son brought ours, unloaded it, and even started the fire for us. When you step outside of the skoolie, you'll be greeted with the sounds of the woods and the babbling of the creek that is only 15 feet from the door. Where is the bathroom? >There is a building in the middle of the campground that has four separate bathrooms, each having a sink, toilet, tub/shower (it's not a community bath house--you'll have your privacy when in the bathroom). The campground is well-lighted, too, so no worries on nighttime bathroom trips. Was it hot in the skoolie? >Not. At. All. It was 90* during the day for our entire stay, and the air conditioning inside the bus was more than adequate to keep us cool. We even added another blanket on us the first night. What do you need to bring? >Your toiletries, towel/washcloth, hairdryer. We brought along a couple jugs of drinking water & stored them in the fridge. We even brought extra pillows but didn't need them, as they provided two for each of us. As content creators, we have a lot of equipment that needs to be charged, so we brought a power strip. It wasn't needed. There are four outlets on the fireplace, and more throughout the bus. If you like to fish, bring your gear. There's a catch/release pond there with bluegill, bass, and trout. Is there wi-fi? >Yes. Now, directions (from the south). >From Flatwoods, our Google map directions led us down a very-back-road through Caress & by Bogg's Mill, which would have brought us out about one mile north of the campground on Cleveland Rd./Mountain Parkway/Rt. 20. We don't recommend it. It's mostly gravel, has steep grades, and in some places there isn't enough room for two vehicles. Instead, we took Rt. 15 all the way to Diana, WV, turned left at the "t" in front of Hometown Diner, and came in from the south side. From the diner, it's 15.7 miles (about 22 minutes), you'll go through Hacker Valley & by Holly River State Park. The campground is on the left, and you can see the skoolies from the road (it can sneak up on you because it's in a curve). Going this route is only about 12 minutes longer, but you won't be white-knuckling it for the ride. I also recommend downloading off-line maps, as there will be no service for most of the drive once you leave Flatwoods. We can't wait to go back!
This was a wonderful experience. Hostess was very kind. So peaceful and relaxing.
