What sets this campground apart is its unique combination of dedicated conservation efforts and its commitment to a low-key, family-friendly atmosphere.
Firstly, the quality of the fishing is a major draw. The lake’s reputation for master angler fish, especially Channel Catfish, is well-earned. Despite some limitations noted by users, like moss near the bank at times, the overall fishing experience remains excellent, providing thrilling moments for all ages. Secondly, the "No-Wake" lake policy creates a safe and truly tranquil environment. Unlike many large state reservoirs, the lake remains quiet and peaceful, making it ideal for young families, paddle boaters, and those who simply want to enjoy the sound of nature rather than the roar of speedboats. This is a relaxed experience that visitors consistently highlight.

The inclusion of a playground, sand beach, and picnic shelter cements its status as a complete family destination. Finally, the lake's history is one of successful conservation; following a watershed management plan, the lake was successfully removed from the state's impaired waters list, a testament to the community and NRD's dedication to maintaining a healthy ecosystem. When you choose Willard L. Meyer Recreation Area, you are supporting a local success story and securing a delightful, relaxed, and rewarding Nebraska outdoor experience. It's the perfect spot to slow down, cast a line, and make lasting memories with family and friends.

Lots of fish biting every time we have gone. My 13 year old caught a 17 pound channel cat. Lots of moss limits fishing from the bank a little.
We go to lake few times a summer. Right now very low. It's smaller but nice for camping. Playgrounds swim area and small enuff no fast boating so kinda more relaxed
Conceived out son there. Pretty cool.
Nice lake. Good fishing. I just wish there was more shade. My camper AC had a heck of a time keeping up in the afternoon.
Decent place. Not many trees for shade while camping and the driveway/road needs work. Dont know about the fishing
