They lock the gate at 6:00 pm. That doesn’t even make sense for a campground. We pulled up as a maintenance worker was unlocking the gate to get in and he told us to come back in the morning at 8:00am. This is not only inconvenient but a serious safety hazard for anyone camping in the park, better hope you don’t have an emergency.
Great camp ground. But being by the airport is very noisy. Light sleepers need not apply. Trails are nice. Air pollution bad!
Omg, one of the best campgrounds we've stayed in. Lots of large sites, we have a 42 ft, and it was kinda of tricky, but we did it 🌞 clean hot showers, just loved it. If you're one for trees and trails 😁
Not a peaceful campground. Its right next to the airport (literally borders the airport) so it’s extremely loud from planes taking off. Toilets were clean, bathrooms themselves were extremely moldy. Also got racially profiled as soon as I arrived to the campground. They had the police and park troopers follow me and everything just to check that I had reserved my campsite (which I did). The gates lock and don’t unlock until 8am, which I felt was kind of late and I did not appreciate being locked in after my uncomfortable run in with the park troopers and police. I definitely will not be returning.
Have been camping and hiking here for over a quarter of a century. It’s my favorite place to go. There is one very dour ranger who has been there as far as I know from 2007 to 2015 who accused me and my child of burning wood at a campsite prior to getting checked in. There was burnt wood on our camp spot but we have never built a campfire here while camping. He insisted nastily that we did! I was so bothered by his accusations. I wish I had reported him. When I returned to camp in 2015 he was still there but didn’t give me a hard time. Still unfriendly though, but he did patrol the area consistently as always which is excellent.
