This was a really nice spot to have a family outing or overnight camping trip not too far from the city of Shelby. Saw lots of deer in the area, surrounded by a peaceful river with multiple campsites and trails to explore. For only $10 overnight fee you can enjoy a little nature and sleep under the stars.
The best park near Shelby. A good place to walk around and have a fire or a BBQ. Has a playground for the kids and great views of the river. Enchantingly beautiful in fall.
For $10/night you get a flat piece of grass, some old but relatively clean toilets at the entrance, and a charcoal grilling station and/or picnic table, if you can snag one. There's a bit of interstate traffic noise, but otherwise it's a quiet and restful spot.
Stopped in to tent for a night and decided to leave , no phone service which wasn't the problem but very sketchy place , dog that didn't stop barking for the 30 minutes we were there , speeding trucks going in and out in that time. They want 10 bucks to stay there , when they should be paying others to stay there lol Bathroom is disgusting.
Camped here both to and from Alaska. Very quiet, kinda spooky and definitely not maintained, but it was really just for overnight and I had my dog. It was nice that I could walk her after a long drive and not worry about road traffic. Saw a few deer. Lots of easy pull through sites.
