Family Camping Activities for All Ages: Games, Hiking, and Campfire Fun
Explore family camping activities that bring all ages together, from outdoor games and scenic hikes to memorable campfire fun that creates lasting memories.
Nestled in the picturesque town of Pinedale, Wyoming, Willow Lake Campground offers a unique and tranquil camping experience for outdoor enthusiasts. This campground is a hidden gem, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and providing a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Willow Lake Campground is ideal for those who love paddle boarding, kayaking, and other non-motorized water activities. The lake is stunning, and the recent addition of a new boat ramp and dock enhances the experience for visitors. While the campground is free to use as of June 2021, a proposed fee of $10 may be implemented in the future. Please note that amenities are limited, with one restroom available and no tables, fire rings, water, or trash facilities on-site.
Accessing the campground can be a bit challenging, as the last mile of the access road is steep and narrow. This may pose a risk for those pulling large trailers, but many locals manage to navigate it successfully. Despite the limited facilities, the campground's natural beauty and serene environment make it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a rustic camping experience.
Customer feedback highlights the stunning views and the perfect conditions for paddle boarding and kayaking. Visitors appreciate the free camping and the opportunity to enjoy non-motorized watercraft without any fees. While the campground lacks some amenities, its unspoiled beauty and peaceful atmosphere leave a lasting impression on those who visit.

This lake is stunning, however the campground is not. Not really an organized campground, no numbered sites, limited area to spread out. One restroom. Looks like a new boat ramp and dock was installed recently. Camping is free as of 6-2021 but a notice on the kiosk board notes a proposed fee of $10 in future. No tables, fire rings, water or trash. Note that the access road is very very steep narrow last 1 mile to get over the final ridge, so pulling a big trailer is a bit of a risk....however there were about 15 large trailers there when I visited, but no vehicles, no people no camps setup...seems the locals just stash and leave their trailers up there to hold down their spot..for how long is unclear.
This place is perfect for paddle boarding or kayaking. No fee to camp or use of non motorized watercraft.
