Small campground with shady sites and partial shade sites. Some sites are quite spacious. Good water pressure at well placed faucets. Clean and well maintained..firepits cleaned out. Each site has sturdy picnic table. Saturday night was busy, but quiet at 10pm. Staff are friendly, helpful, and keep a close watch on the area. Steep hiking trail down through pines to gorgeous waterfall. A comfortable gem of a park

A 54 site NY State CG at the base of Whiteface Mountain sandwiched between the highway and the W Branch of the Ausable River. A nice CG. Ample sized sites. The bathhouse has unlimited hot showers. Unfortunately the road through the notch is narrow and windy and I would be reluctant to walk it to nearby trailheads. The CG sits well above the river so access is not possible.

I enjoyed my stay here. It's in close proximity to Whiteface, and has ample tree coverage in case of rain (it downpoured while I was there, but was a light shower under the trees). Check-in was easy and the front office host was helpful and informative.

More like a truck stop for campers. What I mean is that the campground is quite small and its in front of a passing road. We got woken up by cars passing by on the busy road instead of birds. Quite annoying. Also, theres not a lot of space between your campsite and the next. In fact, what separates each camp site is 1 tree & 1 meter on each side. Its not intimate. It feels like a truck stop. We were also at the camp site close to the bathroom so we had the light in our faces & the dumpster in front of our fire camp. We left after day 1 and went to our favourite camp ground- Buck Pond. I gave 2 stars though because the staff is amazing & so friendly! It also has the cleanest bathrooms I’ve seen in NY campgrounds.

So last year when we stayed I would have given 5 stars for the clean bathrooms, hot showers and quiet fellow campers. We noticed a definite change this year and not a good one. Restroom facilities were not very clean, there was no hot water unless you took a shower at like midnight or 4 in the afternoon. The campground was crowded and very loud early morning groups. I doubt we would come back. The price is good though and it's in a good location for hiking, fishing and kayaking.
