Day hike from Tesnatee Gap and back. There's a copperhead den on Cowrock Mountain. So naturally, my group now call it Snakerock lol. This hike is a great option for people who would find Blood Mountain to be a little too challenging.
Beautiful location but we had an unfortunate encounter with a mama bear and her cub. I think she is a regular here. She came as soon as the sun went down. Grabbed our food, and came back three times but it turned out her cub was stuck in a tree next to our tent. Luckily no one was mauled. Let’s just say we didn’t sleep well that night : )
