Welcome to X Rock Campground, a highly sought-after destination within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, located in Lake George, CO 80827. This campground is described by visitors as a "magical place" situated alongside a babbling brook, offering a unique and appealing natural environment.
Environment: The primary environmental feature of X Rock Campground is its location by a babbling brook, suggesting a tranquil and picturesque setting. However, it's important to note that the campground is at a significant altitude, as one visitor experienced altitude sickness. It is recommended to take precautions such as deep breathing, eating well, and taking it easy upon arrival. Bringing a water filter and drinking plenty of water are also advised. Additionally, insects such as mosquitoes may be present, so bringing bug spray and mosquito nets is recommended.
Services: While specific services are not detailed, the review mentions that the campground is not run by state employees. However, the individuals managing the campground are described as "great" and "attentive to the lands and surrounding ecosystem," suggesting a level of care for the environment and potentially for the campers as well.
Features: A key feature of X Rock Campground is its popularity, as indicated by the comment that spots are "rarely ever left unreserved" and that available places can be counted on two hands, suggesting limited capacity. The magical setting by a babbling brook is a significant draw for visitors. The attentiveness of the campground management to the environment is also a notable characteristic. Due to the high altitude, it's a feature to be aware of, and bringing necessary supplies like a water filter and insect repellent is advisable. One visitor also mentioned the availability of canned oxygen in town as a remedy for altitude sickness.
Please note that no specific promotional information is available for X Rock Campground. Given its popularity and limited availability, it is highly recommended to make reservations well in advance.

A magical place on a babbling brook. I got altitude sickness on morning number three at this altitude. Drove into town to get canned oxygen. Just deep breathe eat good and take it easy, bring a water filter, drink lots of water. Bring bugspray and mosquito nets
Rarely are there ever spots left unreserved... This place is great. But; it is hard to get into considering you can count all the available places on two hands! It's not exactly state employees running this place. They are great, and attentive to the lands and surrounding ecosystem...
Great, crowded but bitterly thousand spots just up the other side. Jeep and camper pulled some gnarly stuff but wee worth it
A decent place to stop for the night.
