York KAMPground Introduce

Introduction / Overview: Your Essential, Functional Stop in Central Nebraska

For Nebraskans and cross-country travelers alike, the journey along Interstate 80 often demands a reliable, easy-access, and fully functional place to stop, rest, and recharge. The York KAMPground in York, NE, fulfills this need perfectly. This is a camping destination built for utility and convenience, explicitly catering to the needs of modern RV travelers. Spanning approximately 10 acres, the KAMPground is designed with efficiency in mind, providing a safe, well-lit, and secure environment right where travelers need it most—at the vital crossroads of I-80 and Highway 81.

While some visitors might note that its design is more "parking lot with utilities" than a wooded resort, this direct, utilitarian approach is precisely its strength. It focuses energy on providing excellent connectivity, clean facilities, and easy maneuvering for even the largest rigs, ensuring a hassle-free overnight or short-term stay. The management, established in 2016, aimed to create a place that offers all the amenities RV travelers expect, prioritizing functionality, cleanliness, and security above decorative landscaping.

Guests consistently praise the cleanliness of the bathhouse and the functionality of the services, demonstrating the KAMPground’s success in its primary mission. It is the ideal place for those on a continual migration or business trip who need dependable connections, a hot shower, and a clean place to stay without the complications of navigating a deeply wooded or resort-style park.

Location and Accessibility at Nebraska’s Crossroads

The York KAMPground boasts one of the most strategic and accessible locations in the entire state of Nebraska. It is nestled in the Northeast quadrant of the I-80 corridor at Exit 353, where I-80 meets Highway 81. Its physical address is 214 Naomi Rd, York, NE 68467, USA.

This prime positioning means exceptionally easy accessibility for travelers. Rigs, even those towing large vehicles, can quickly enter and exit the campground right off the highway interchange. While this proximity naturally results in some road noise (which many guests find "nearly unnoticeable" or manageable with an air conditioner running), the trade-off is unparalleled convenience. Furthermore, the KAMPground is located near a cluster of commercial businesses in York, making daily necessities incredibly accessible. Multiple restaurants, coffee shops, convenience stores, a gas station, and a Wal-Mart Supercenter are all located within walking distance, providing significant added value for tired travelers who prefer not to unhitch.

Essential Services Offered for the RV Traveler

The York KAMPground is dedicated to providing high-utility services that make an overnight stop highly efficient and comfortable. While the office may sometimes be unstaffed (utilizing an easy after-hours check-in system), the services themselves are always available and highly functional.

  • RV Hookups: A large number of full-service RV stalls, including 139 full-size pull-thru sites.
  • Power & Water: All sites include 50/30/20 AMP electrical hookups and water service.
  • Sewer: Approximately 68 stalls offer full sewer hookups; non-sewer sites (water/electric only) can utilize the on-site free-standing dump station.
  • Connectivity: Complimentary Wi-Fi access is provided across the campground, noted by guests for having "very good" connectivity for essential communications.
  • Sanitation: Very clean and well-maintained restrooms and showers located in a centrally-located bathhouse.
  • Laundry: A "wonderful feature" mentioned by customers, the coin-operated laundry room is available on a first-come, first-served basis for extended stays or travelers needing to refresh their wardrobe.
  • Security: The facility is protected by a security camera system for guest peace of mind.
  • Discounts: Discounts are offered for AAA Motor Club, Military, Good Sam, and Passport America members (check for current policies and limitations).

Key Features and Highlights for Functionality

The defining features of York KAMPground are those that maximize ease of use and minimize stress for the transient traveler, making it a reliable fixture on the Nebraska camping circuit.

  • 100% Pull-Thru Sites: All 139 sites are large pull-through sites, making it extremely easy for guests with long RVs and tow vehicles to enter, park, and exit without having to unhitch.
  • Spacious Sites: Sites are designed to be full-sized, ensuring ample room for slides and facilitating easy maneuvering throughout the park.
  • Utilitarian Design: The level, gravel sites are highly functional, minimizing mud and providing a stable foundation for leveling, which is crucial for large RVs.
  • All-Weather Access: The focus on gravel and utility makes the camp accessible year-round, despite the typical Midwest freeze-thaw cycles that can cause bumpy gravel roads leading into the park.
  • Local Amenities: The unique feature of having multiple major services—including fast food, coffee shops, and a Wal-Mart—within walking distance significantly enhances the convenience factor, saving fuel and time.
  • Flexible Check-In: Late arrivals and self-check-in are easily accommodated via online/phone registration or a drop box payment system, catering to those who drive long hours.

It's very conveniently located near I80 and not far from 2. The entrance is a bit bumpy and had some puddles, didn't bother us, just slow down. We were concerned about road noise from 80 but, it's nearly unnoticeable. The signs state that check in is required but, the office is unstaffed. The electric, sewer, water connections are at every site and easily accessed. Connectivity is very good. Restrooms and showers are very clean and well maintained. The laundry room is a wonderful feature here. We were just passing through on our continual migration. This is definitely not a pretty place to stay but, it's very functional. It is a parking lot with utilities.

Not sure what others were expecting you can clearly see from the satellite view on Google maps that this isn’t a “resort” style campground. This place is very utilitarian and it’s a great spot to stop on your way through Nebraska. Easily accessible from the highway and close to stores/food places. I will agree the road is bumpy but that comes with being gravel in the Midwest where the ground freezes and thaws. We’ve stayed here twice and if we’re ever through the area would probably stop again. My only real complaint would be that the highway is close so it can be a bit noisy at times but nothing too crazy.

I stayed for a week. The weekly price was very reasonable. This is a well maintained RV park close to the freeway. The is a Walmart less than a 1/4 mile away and every possible restaurant you could want within walking sistance or a very short drive; i.e. KFC/Taco Bell, Taco John, Wendy's, Arby's, Starbucks, Runza, and you can even get Cinnabon at the gas station at the end of the drive. The campground is gravel and grass. Well maintained. Has a laundry (3 machines of each) and a showers (6) & restroom. Although it's right by the freeway it was very quiet. The spaces are good for rigs up to 70' and are very level, I only had to adjust maybe an inch. There are a number of longterm residents but they're sites are very neat. The only drawback for some might be that there's not a lot of space between sites, maybe 4 to 6 feet. But unless they're full for longer stays they try to leave a space between you and the next RV.

New RV park. Quiet with easy access from interstate. Pleasant and accommodating staff. Grassy area for each site with roomy gravel pads. Laundry room had newer machines and prices were reasonable. We spend one night as we traveled through the area. Would stay again if in the area. Laundry area had a strong sewer smell. WIFI was not so good. There were no tables at the sites. The dumpsters were full to capacity. r
