Young State Park Introduce

Young State Park is a hidden gem located in the heart of Michigan's scenic Northwoods, offering a perfect blend of nature and recreational fun. Nestled along the shores of a picturesque lake, this campground provides a peaceful retreat for outdoor enthusiasts while being just a short drive from the vibrant downtown area of Boyne City. The park is ideal for both tent camping and RV stays, with sites featuring electrical hookups, fire pits, and benches. Families will appreciate the boat launch, swings by the beach, and miles of trails for biking or walking. The park store offers convenience items, and there are clean restrooms and showers available for visitors.

One of the standout features of Young State Park is its seclusion, allowing guests to enjoy a quiet and serene environment while still being close to local attractions like farmers markets and town events in Boyne City. Many sites offer views of the lake, with some even right on the water, providing stunning scenery and a peaceful atmosphere.

Guests have praised the park for its family-friendly atmosphere, though they caution that it can get quite busy during peak times. The tight-knit community of campers and the presence of many families with young children and pets make this a lively yet welcoming spot to stay.

Great place to camp. Nice lake in walking distance, with a park store. Bathrooms and showers. 3 miles from Boyne city, but is very secluded so you don’t feel like you’re close to town. The park is about a half mile from the entrance. Tent camping and rv camping. Boat launch, swings by the beach. Electrical hookup. Benches at each site with a fire pit. Some sites are right on the water. $10 fee to unload your rv. Recreational pass required.

Very tight park, maybe it was the weekend we had booked but every spot was filled and it seemed very busy. Drive carefully as there are many families with young children and pets. Closer to the water the sites were wider. Good trails for biking or walking. Close to boyne city downtown which has events, farmers markets etc…

We decided to camp at Young State Park before the Annual Bridge Walk and it was a nice night to camp. We would recommend the smaller campground near the lake as it was quiet, clean and didn’t feel too crowded. The water is crystal clear and beautiful, it’s a nice little beach to watch boaters and a beautiful sunset.

I think this was my favorite park this year. Such beautiful beach areas and the water was amazing. The campsite itself was spacious, 50 amp, but a good amount of the sites are not level. Bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily and free. Definitely bring shower shoes because they can get dirty quickly between cleanings.

First time camping there for us - Nice sites, clean bathrooms and showers, excellent staff. There was poison ivy in our campsite, but still...This may be our new fave campground!
