What a beautiful campground! As soon as we pulled in a roadrunner ran in front of us. Beautiful views, nice sites, nice dog park. Never met the owners but they were able to help us find the campground due to bad gps direction and texted us wi fi password
I rated this 5 stars based on the following criteria: easy access on and off I-40, level sites, water hookup separated nicely from sewer hookup - both clean and well maintained, wide enough spots and no need to unhook the toad, and extremely nice and flexible staff for checking in and out. Starlink speeds were great with no obstacles or interruptions in service, even for video conference calls. Amenities (bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities) are still under construction and the staff makes it clear that you know before booking. Update: Over the past 2 years we have stayed at Zia RV Park at least 4 times, anywhere from 3 nights to 2 week stays. Our last 2 week stay included traveling in the winter with a new dog. Zia has a large fenced in dog park with a couple of chairs to relax on while the dogs run and play. The water hookup is wrapped with insulation and electric for heat to prevent freezing at the source. The park remains neat and well-maintained. In fact while we were there they were clearing out dead brush from a far corner of the park and grading the area. There are about 8 full-time trailers, presumably contract workers, all very quiet and hardly around. Met two and they were very nice. Walked the dog multiple times during the day and night and felt very safe, never concerned (perspective - female over 60). Several travelers stopped in and hooked up their rigs for overnight stays. Never saw anyone have issues with pulling in or out. Overall - this is our go to park while in the area. Have driven by 2 other parks further west and the sites are not level.
This park is still in the early stages of its development (was vacant for many years until about two years ago), but the new owner is making considerable progress breathing new life into it. Many mature trees still remain, and they provide shade to the dog park and some of the sites. The whole park has been refreshed with new gravel. When we arrived, there were 22 usable sites, with 10 new sites nearly ready for occupancy. No laundry or bathrooms yet, but we were told by the owner that they are in the works. A bit of traffic noise, but that's to be expected being right off the freeway. The beautiful sunsets make up for it!
Very nice RV park. Easy access right off I-40. Large level pull thru sites you can choose from full hookups or just water and electric. We really enjoyed the night we stayed in site 8. We were pleasantly surprised with the amazing views and with how quiet it was even though you were not far off the freeway. There was even a nice dog park so our dog could get a little exercise after a day of travel. We will definitely stay again next time we are in the area.
While traveling cross country from Nebraska to Arizona we had some mechanical problems while pulling 30 thousand pounds with our ford truck and this rv park was a blessing we can’t even begin to describe how grateful we were to find and been able to stay for 2 days. It has huge pull through spots big enough for our 76ft long set up. SO GRATEFUL FOR ZIA RV PARK!!!
