Beautiful area, park and lodge! Everyone from the front desk to the dining room employees were amazing and caring. We loved the hospitality and beauty of the WV mountains. Will remember this getaway for a long time.
Staff treated us well. We only ate one night in the restaurant. We thought they closed a little early. And could not make it in after being out all day. Food was good. Hotels needs some up grades. Was not happy when I came in after room was cleaned and the change I had was gone. Yea it might have only bought a cup of coffee but did they go thru my other stuff.
Positives: front desk was friendly and helpful and the lodge itself is pretty and well decorated. Allow pets with a pet fee. The food was pretty good so that was a plus. The ladies at the restaurant were EXCELLENT and even fired up their fryer to make my daughter chicken nuggets and fries when it was just the buffet that day- loved the restaurant experience! Power was out for roughly 56 hour at our house 15 minutes down the road so I booked the hotel for a 1 night stay through Expedia. They allowed dogs which was awesome because that's what I was looking for since I had 2 dogs that couldn't sit in a hot house. Booked queen room for 1 adult and 2 kids age 6 years and less than 1 year. Including the dog fee it came out to over $160 for 1 night. Was hoping for a discount for being a local that was booking because of power issues but no big deal it was only a night and it got us out of the heat. The room smelled like mildew. My sinuses were messed up that night once we finally got settled in and both the baby and my 6 year old was sneezing the next morning when we left. Got back home, no sneezing and sinuses went back to normal. The shower was also messed up and that's a big reason I booked the room because not only was our power knocked out because of the storms from the hurricane but our water was out as well. There was hair on the toilet seat when I first arrived and when I checked around the bed there was change on the floor like the room hadn't been cleaned. There was no cell service and their wifi was out. The room left A LOT to be desired for the price I paid for 1 night. The pool area was also locked. I went to the front desk and bit after arriving and asked if it was possible to reserve the room for another night but not pay yet since I didn't know if our power would be back on didnt want to pay that much money for a second night if power was restored and they said no problem. This is where some miscommunication happened and I take responsibility for this. I left the hotel at 10am on the original check out day. I had 2 kids and 2 dogs so things were hectic getting everything and everyone loaded back into the car. I forgot to go to the front desk and return the key cards and do the official "check out" things. My card was charged for that second night. No big deal I called that same day that I left and asked them about it to see if I could get a refund and hopefully someone else could take the room. My house still didn't have power at this point and I had a screaming baby in my car sitting in town getting cell service to make these calls. After 5 times of calling and the phone ringing off the hook then one time it rang for so long it switched to "your call can not be completed" I went to the state park website and used the 833- number to get transferred to them and someone finally answered. The front desk said I'd have to call back the next day to speak to a manager about a refund. Fine. Called back the next day and the manager did tell me she'd give me a refund but then she said she was going to put me on their list to not give a refund anymore. That's fine I live here I really don't book hotels unless it's an absolute must and this is only the second time I've ever booked a hotel anyways. But she took it to an unprofessional level by saying "I'll issue a refund this time but we lost money because the cleaning crew did not clean your room since it was still under your name" that's the part that did not sit right with me. That's very unprofessional. I called the day I was originally supposed to check out so the room could have been cleaned and booked with someone else, I told the people on the phone I was no longer there and was not coming back so they knew i had left and checked out.Yall need to learn how to speak to customers. I'm not a child, you do not need to speak to me like one. I would have been okay without the refund, I did not call with an attitude, I did not call with demands, i simply state that I was calling to see if I could get a refund. I was respectful. The manager on duty was not.
A great place to stay, on site restaurant, pool, hot tub, playground, beautiful scenery, they have cabins we stayed at the lodge though, and it was wonderful!
Nice, clean and quiet. The housekeeping is spotless and the staff is great.
