Not the best experience here, there was a mistake in booking that was mine in selecting the wrong date on their calendar system but when I arrived they dinged me a whole nights stay for shifting my arrival date (the place was empty so they had plenty of rooms, no harm no foul IMO) the rooms were clean and new but there wasn't a single USB charge port in the rooms, in the breakfast/lounge area nor in the business/computer nook😕 What gives? It's like a $30 item. This is a business area in a somewhat modern town with Cal Poly Humboldt right down the road, I don't think I've been in a hotel/motel in the last few years that didn't have charge ports in the room much less in the lounge area. The parking was pretty limited even though the occupancy was light for a weekend so there must be some off site parking somewhere. There is a good breakfast place (Adel's) within walking distance and it was relatively quiet at the hotel. The shower/tub didn't have an anti-slip floor so be careful getting in and out and please use the hand rail.
Clean but dated hotel, no USB ports in room, bed is very hard, coffee maker located in the bathroom. 170$ in extra fees on top of the room rate. Informed that it would be 10 days for the reversal to receive the deposit, reservation fee and incidental fee to be returned. Definitely will not stay here again.
Stayed here on the night of June 22nd, 2024 This was an absolutely beautiful Holiday Inn in Northern California. I stayed here to go to Redwood National Park north of there. The hotel's location is very close to the park and it is also of good value for the area. I was in awe of how the hotel lobby looked. The rooms themselves were also very nice and clean. Overall, it was a comfortable stay here in Eureka, California. I highly recommend this hotel.
Rooms were clean and bug! The customer service was wonderful checking in and out. The younger blonde girl at the reception desk needs a raise! She is amazing! Breakfast and pool were great additions.
Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Eureka Review Having worked here for 2 months, the front desk position is not hard besides knowing what you're doing and keeping things clean and organized. The biggest mistake was me doing more than the bare minimum. We get paid $16/hour and we're not allowed to sit during the entire 8 hour shifts. We have to sign away our break rights to even get employed. I'm generally an organized and tidy person. I'd come into my shift with disorganized papers and way too many mistakes made by the previous shifts due to their lack of work ethics and the incompetency of the General Manager, Lee Spencer, who doesn't train the new hires to a industry set standard. As the front desk at a hotel, they are the first thing you see when guests walk in. Lee Spencer also will retaliate against employees that he doesn't like or actually stands up to his attitude/behavior by taking you off the schedule in a short notice. The mannerisms and overall work ethic of the staff members is not up to par for customer service related work which was reported to the Manager, Nil Patel. Did they even talk to them, I wouldn't know but I never saw change. I've worked as a Supervisor for 4 years, have customer service experience for more than 6 years. You'd think they'd let the incompetent workers go but not someone with this much experience. Their excuse was that they rather let someone who put more effort and provided better customer service go than lose out on people who weren't up to standards. This just shows how low their standards are and the lack of care they have for their guests. Our frequent staying guests like me and my display of service. This hotel severely lacks in everything for the amount of money you're paying for. Housekeepers are amazing and nice. Not to even mention, the owner, Jay Patel, is an infuriating women who expects to be seen/known as the Boss even if you're a new hire. No introduction or greeting, like I don't even know who you are because I've never seen you before. They own the Comfort Inn and the new Home 2 Suites in Eureka as well, so people definitely know how terrible they are as a business owner. Honestly, I'd rather just book an AirBnB instead of staying here. The IHG discounts vs non-member discount is only by $7.
